Studio Meissen welcomes you to explore and experience the art work of Alexandra Rozenman —displayed in our gallery.
Russian, European, and American folktales and myths take on a utopian dimension in the work of Alexandra Rozenman. Through her artwork, Alexandra tells a universal story by weaving in personal experiences. Recently, she has been working on a series titled “Transplanted,” which delves into humorous narratives from her encounters with celebrated painters. Through this series, she explores issues of artistic influence, dialogue, emulation, and creativity.
Born in Moscow, Alexandra Rozenman developed an early interest in art, nurtured by her parents, and has been painting for as long as she can remember. For five years, she attended the Children's Art School at the Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Later, she studied under the dissident artist Grisha Bruskin, who achieved worldwide acclaim as an emigré artist. In 1989, Rozenman and her family relocated to the United States.
Rozenman earned a BFA in Painting in 1995 from Empire State College—State University of New York and an MFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. She has become well established in Somerville, MA.
